Chris Raza told NewsOK.com that he was sitting in his truck, when he heard the shots.

“The shot came straight up, straight down,” he said. “A bullet just landed straight above my head.”

Raza claims he and his two friends, including two teenagers, fled the parking lot when they heard the shot. Raza’s sister, Melissa Raza, says he was sitting in his father’s car.

“When we came to his truck, he didn’t have a bullet hole in him,” she said.

The victim’s sister says her brother had never been involved in illegal activity. Raza was with his friends on Saturday, she said.

The victim’s sister tells us that his friends tried to calm her brother after the shooting. They told her he’d been shot during a confrontation at a nightclub in Kansas City last week. She says he wasn’t taken to the hospital due to his condition.

Another friend says his brother worked for a company that produced the “Savage” video game. Raza attended the game studio, where he worked as a production assistant, according to his brother.

Officials say these two officers will conduct no arrests in connection with the incident.

Neighborhood members say the area is a place that’s not going anywhere.

“They’re trying to put the crime down,” said Paul Shafie, of the area. “They put these new police everywhere. That’s a huge part of it — they want to keep the violence down.”

The community around the shootings remain shaken. Raza says he’d like the police, City Attorney’s Office, and U.S. Attorney’s Department to come and work with neighborhoods in order to do what they can to keep residents safe, including improving security and educating residents about the area’s dangers.

“We’re in the process right now,” he said, explaining that residents will not be invited to join the investigation into the deadly shooting. “Nobody’s here investigating. Nobody does police interviews. Nobody does anything.”
